What is your favourite Pink Floyd album?

"The Division Bell". I love the mood of this album.

What is your favourite Pink Floyd song?

"Comfortably Numb". I love everything in this song - the lyrics, the melody, the guitar solo. Fantastic! Also I could say "Wish You Were Here" because everyone loves this song, it's so simple and really amazing.

Which Pink Floyd song do you enjoy playing the most?

That’s a difficult question! I love "Coming Back to Life" and "Learning to Fly" but I think my most favourite is "Comfortably Numb". This song forces me to think about so many things, especially the guitar solo. I love to be on the stage to this song.

What’s your most favourite place you’ve toured?

Kazakhstan. The people there are so kind, opening and grateful for listening to the live music.

What’s your most favourite show you’ve ever played?

I think that was the first acoustic show I performed with my band in a small venue in east of Russia. That was like an euphoria because nobody’s siting down, people were standing in front of the stage, singing with us, shouting, absolutely fantastic feelings for everyone and especially for me!

Who’s the most famous person you’ve ever met?

I've met and worked with lots of famous Russian artists but I guess they are only popular in Russia. Also I saw Ledisi live in London. That was really amazing, such warm memories, my most favourite meeting. But I think the most famous person in the world who I met was Durga McBroom.

Who or what made you want to become a musician?

I was born into a very musical family: my mother and my aunt used to sing and play the piano, my grandmother used to sing and play the accordion, my grandfather used to play the button accordion, so everyone used to play the music but no one had become a professional musician and got a musical education. So, I’d just decided to be the first person from my family to achieve it.

Outside of Pink Floyd who are your biggest musical heroes and influences?

Nina Simone, Amy Winehouse, Erykah Budu, Ledisi.

If you could play in any other band, past or present, what would it be?

Guess it would be the original Pink Floyd (not a tribute band!) from the past. Also I’d like to be a backing vocalist in any legend bands or musicians like Guns n’ Roses, Chaka Khan, Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, etc. And in a present that would be only my band with my original songs.

Give us a quick rundown of your gear?

I have a lot of stuff at home - a guitar, a piano, keyboards, microphones, monitors. I use everything when I work.

What’s your most favourite bit of gear?

Usually I use my MacBook, my Akai keyboard and my Focusrite audio interface for making music.

What advice would you give to any aspiring musician?

Don’t listen to anybody who says you can’t do it or can’t achieve it. Any level, any way, any circumstances. Stand up, go to practice and you got it. Simple.

What was the first album you ever bought?

Wow! I remember that was Elephunk by The Black Eyed Peas and the greatest hits by Nina Simone.

Who would you want to be stuck on a desert island with?

With any talented musicians and one sound engineer with some stuff. We would create something very interesting.

What totally pointless super power would you like?

I would like to travel through space. Sometimes I really want to move somewhere, but I have no possibility, no visa, no time, no money. So, that would be amazing!

Would you rather be in bed on a Sunday morning or on holiday on a tropical beach?

Holiday on a tropical beach. I spend a lot of time working in a bed, I can let me do it in any case.

Would you rather be incredibly funny or incredibly clever?

I would rather be incredibly funny. I don’t like boring people, but incredibly clever.

Would you rather be a famous inventor or a famous writer?

Absolutely a famous writer. I love to create, and the most important thing for creative people is the recognition.

Which song do wish you wrote?

A hit song, just forever.

If you want to hear Alex then check out her single "My Man" which was released earlier this year :)
